CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Police have caught a trio of teenagers they say are responsible for a trash or car break ins on the city’s east end.

Polcie responded to a vehicle theft at 811 Jefferson Avenue in Chillicothe. Upon arrival, officers pursued individuals matching the suspect description, ultimately detaining a teenager, identified as a person of interest. The teen resisted arrest, leading to a physical altercation before he was successfully handcuffed.

During the investigation, police found that additional suspects fled the scene. Despite efforts to locate them, one individual matching the description remained elusive. The teen later implicated two individuals, alleging their involvement in the attempted theft.

The ensuing investigation uncovered a broken driver’s side window and a punched ignition.

As the situation unfolded, the teen was transported to JDC to face charges of resisting arrest and obstructing official business. The case involved multiple criminal charges, including criminal mischief and vehicle trespass.

Further inquiries led to contact with the child’s mother, who named the other two kids involved. One was subsequently questioned at his residence, where officers observed mud-smeared crocs, potentially linked to the crime.

The teen denied involvement, providing an alibi of being at the movies until late. However, conflicting statements between him and another individual prompted officers to question a third suspect about his whereabouts and attire on the night of the incident.

The third teen’s inconsistent statements and inability to produce certain items led to heightened suspicion. Both teens’ parents were informed that the case would be reviewed for potential criminal charges.

The investigation continues as law enforcement works to unravel the full extent of the attempted vehicle theft on Jefferson Avenue.
