ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A routine refueling stop took an unexpected turn for Union Township EMS members as they found themselves facing alleged threats from a familiar face in Ross County. The incident unfolded at a nearby convenience store, close to the firehouse, and led to the arrest of two men, one of which was tased.

EMS personnel reported to deputies an individual making obscene gestures and threatening physical harm at the convenience store. A subsequent investigation led to information that the accused was identified as Daniel Sevy, a name familiar to the first responders due to a previous encounter.

According to statements from three EMS personnel, Sevy, sitting in a maroon Chevrolet SUV, pointed fingers at them, issuing explicit threats. The trio, already acquainted with Sevy’s disruptive behavior during a previous call, expressed annoyance and alarm.

Fearing for their safety and the potential encounter with Sevy during their duties, the first responders called deputies.

Considering Sevy’s history of alcohol abuse, resistance to authority, and firearm possession, the responding deputy decided to seek assistance from other deputies when approaching Sevy’s residence on Pleasant Valley Road to question him. Deputies Jacob JoHansen, Robert Rush, Isaac Oberer, Brandon Stanley, and Joshua O’Bomsawin joined.

Upon arriving at the home, Sevy and another man, Andrew Bush appeared on the front porch. Recognizing Bush from a recent arrest, deputies attempted to question Sevy about the incident.

However, the situation escalated as Sevy and Bush retreated into the house, prompting a pursuit. Despite orders to stop, Sevy continued to flee, leading to a taser deployment that immobilized him. Meanwhile, Deputy Rush dealt with resistance from Bush, who used racial slurs and resisted arrest.

Both Sevy and Bush, evaluated by EMS at the scene, refused further medical treatment. Bush was booked for resisting arrest and obstructing official business, while Sevy was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and booked for obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Sevy refused to sign the summons and demonstrated signs of intoxication during the incident, deputies said.
