CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Search and rescue teams, alongside multiple law enforcement agencies, were scouring the area of Sycamore Street on Chillicothe’s east side for a missing child who had fallen into the Scioto River.

Dispatchers received the call shortly after 4:30 p.m., with claims that a child had fallen into the cold water just east of the Bridge Street bridge, near Strawser Park.

Responding to the situation, a specialized water rescue team from Union Township was initially called in to assist in the search efforts. The local VA Fire Department also responded.

Deputies spoke with people along the bike path, as well as someone at a nearby house. After a brief search, it was concluded by law enforcement that the call was “not credible” and they cleared the area.
