PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is looking in a body they pulled from the Scioto River.

The Sheriff said he received a distress call from two duck hunters. The callers reported a possible discovery of a deceased individual on an island in the Scioto River, just north of State Route 762.

Deputies, detectives, and fire personnel from Scioto Township and Harrison Township Fire Department coordinated efforts to recover the body from the island and extract it from the river. The deceased was subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for a thorough autopsy.

On Monday, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 50-year-old Robert L. Hanson Jr. Columbus, using fingerprints. Investigators revealed that Hanson Jr. had been reported missing in Columbus.

The case remains under investigation.
