ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — One person is dead in Ross County following a fatal pedestrian crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred on Route 23 near Massieville in Ross County.
Around 6:08 PM, a 2006 Pontiac Torrent, driven by Melissa Irvin, age 53, of Waverly, was traveling southbound on Route 23. A male pedestrian, Timothy Oyer, age 53, of Chillicothe, was walking westbound across Route 23.
The Pontiac Torrent struck Mr. Oyer in the southbound lanes of the highway.
Oyer died from his injuries as a result of the crash. Mrs. Irvin, troopers said, sustained minor injuries. She was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.
The southbound lanes of Route 23 were shut down for nearly three hours.
This crash, officials said, remains under investigation.
