CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A burglary at a residence on Beechwood Street in Chillicothe is under investigation after three bicycles and a child’s bike cart were stolen from a garage, according to a report from the Chillicothe Police Department.
Officers responded to a call on Monday evening after a juvenile resident discovered the theft upon returning to the property. They reported that someone had broken into the garage by ripping open a garbage bag covering a previously broken window.
A neighbor’s surveillance camera captured footage of a white truck in the area around the time of the incident, leading to initial suspicion. However, upon investigation, the truck and its owner were cleared of involvement.
The stolen property includes two GT bikes described as black with blue and purple lettering respectively, a blue Schwinn bike with black spiked foot pedals and a hitch pin for the red bike cart, and the red child’s pull-behind cart itself. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at over $1600.
Officers searched the surrounding area, including Strawser Park where the abandoned bike cart was later recovered, but the remaining bicycles remain missing.
