COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Legal Aid Society of Columbus (LASC) and Southeastern Ohio Legal Services (SEOLS) joined forces to become Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio. This new entity continues the legacy of both organizations, providing free civil legal aid and advocacy to 36 counties across the state.

The merger, a result of a comprehensive needs assessment and strategic planning process, aims to strengthen the organization’s impact and efficiency.

Prior to the merger, the two organizations, connected since 2008, operated independently with separate boards and structures. This led to redundancies in administrative functions, limiting their potential impact. Now, with streamlined operations and combined resources, they are poised to serve more individuals in need.

Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio remains dedicated to its mission: tackling unfairness and injustice, reducing poverty, and increasing opportunity through legal aid and advocacy. With this strategic merger, they are even better equipped to fulfill this mission and advocate for the most vulnerable communities in Ohio.
