NELSONVILLE, Ohio — A drug raid in Athens County resulted in three arrests, according to the sheriff’s office.
Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith released a statement this afternoon regarding an ongoing drug trafficking investigation within the county. Sheriff Smith stated, “A high volume of drug traffic coming to and from the residence had recently been reported to the Task Force. Upon arrival at the residence, detectives identified numerous individuals with warrants for their arrest.”
The raid, officials said, targeted a home on Perry Ridge Road in Nelsonville.
During the search of the home, investigators uncovered several concerning issues, including four canines in poor health, numerous piles of trash, and burnt tires. Suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were also seized as evidence.
Arrested at the scene were 46-year-old Carissa Freer, who had an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Additionally, Seth Whealey, aged 44, was arrested on a possession warrant, and 23-year-old Steven Decker was arrested for possession and failure to appear.
All three individuals remain in custody, with additional charges pending analysis of the suspected drugs by the Ohio Bureau of Investigations (BCI).
