ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a variety of calls for service on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024.

Deputies responded to a report of a woman in mental crisis on State Route 144 in Coolville. The woman was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

In another incident, deputies received a phone report from a resident regarding four tires dumped on their property. The Environmental Deputy will investigate the case.

A woman visited the Athens County Sheriff’s office to report a telecommunications harassment complaint. The case is under review.

An arrest was made at the Dollar General on United Lane in Athens. Shane Casteel of Pomeroy was wanted on an active warrant by the Adult Parole Authority. He was arrested and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Deputies assisted with a vehicle lockout on Burr Oak Boulevard in Nelsonville and responded to reports of a burglary in Guysville and a juvenile complaint on Bean Road in The Plains.

Mediation resulted in the resolution of a dispute over a motor vehicle on Main Street in Chauncey.

Deputies addressed noise complaints at The Sandstone Apartments in The Plains and responded to a report of a juvenile with a toy gun on Mill Street in Chauncey.

A well-being check on three juveniles on State Route 682 in The Plains determined them to be safe.
