PIKE COUNTY, Ohio —– A tragic fire in Pike County took the lives of two individuals late Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred at 1641 Fairview Road.
According to authorities, at approximately 9:00 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a distress call reporting a fire at the residence. Upon arrival, firefighters found the entire structure fully engulfed in flames.
Tragically, two people were trapped inside the burning home.
Killed were 88-year-old Helen Childers and her daughter, 65-year-old Joanie Johnson.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the state’s Fire Marshal’s Office. The Guardian has reached out to investigators for comment, but as of this afternoon, we have yet to hear back from them.
