ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – February 28, 2024 – Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a variety of calls for service throughout the day on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024.

Assisting in Mental Health Crisis: Deputies responded to Murray City after receiving reports of a woman experiencing suicidal thoughts. The woman was transported to the hospital for a comprehensive evaluation.

Patrolling Lake Snowden: At the request of Hocking College Police Department, deputies patrolled the area around Lake Snowden due to a triggered alarm. Upon inspection, all buildings were found secure, and no further action was required.

Investigating Suspected Fraud: The Sheriff’s Office received a walk-in report regarding suspected fraudulent activity on a Chase Bank account. According to the complainant, someone attempted to open two credit lines without their authorization.

Apprehending Wanted Individual: In collaboration with Hocking College Police Department, deputies located and arrested Andrew Brandon, 35, who was wanted on felony warrants from multiple agencies. Brandon was transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Responding to Domestic Dispute: Deputies responded to a report of a verbal disagreement on First Street in Stewart. The individuals involved in the dispute were arguing over personal property. Both parties agreed to separate, and deputies resumed their patrol duties.

Assisting with Vehicle Lockout: Finally, deputies responded to another call on First Street, this time in The Plains, to assist with unlocking a vehicle.
