POMEROY, Ohio — On February 28th, Meigs County Deputies were kept busy responding to various incidents across the county, ensuring public safety and addressing community concerns.
At the stroke of midnight, deputies rushed to Gold Ridge Road in Pomeroy following a report of three individuals attempting to steal a vehicle. Despite their swift response, the suspects had already fled the scene, prompting deputies to conduct a thorough patrol of the area with no luck in locating them.
Shortly after, at 12:04 AM, a traffic stop on Bean Alley in Syracuse led to the arrest of Christopher Schoolcraft on an outstanding warrant issued by the Meigs County Juvenile Court. Schoolcraft was apprehended and transported to the Middleport Jail without incident.
Throughout the day, deputies tackled various issues, including a narcotics complaint on SR 7 in Tuppers Plains at 12:58 PM, where evidence was collected for further investigation. A warrant service attempt on Bashan Road in Long Bottom at 1:20 PM yielded negative results.
Later in the afternoon, at 3:21 PM, deputies responded to a complaint of threats on N Broadway Street in Racine, only to find the caller had already departed. Despite patrolling the area, deputies were unable to locate the individual or their vehicle.
As evening descended, deputies encountered a suspicious vehicle on Rose Valley Road in Syracuse at 7:51 PM. After locating the vehicle, deputies determined that the female driver was simply using her phone due to poor reception at her residence, alleviating any concerns.
Other incidents included a noise complaint on Main Street in Rutland at 8:14 PM and assisting Middleport PD with clearing and securing a building on Rutland Street in Middleport at 10:30 PM.
