PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — A dispute in Pike County escalated to violence on Monday, leaving one man injured and sparking a manhunt for the alleged shooter.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at an address on Morgans Fork Road, where they found 44-year-old Jeremy Scowden with a gunshot wound to his hand. Scowden reported that he had been arguing with 37-year-old Joshua Hinshaw when Hinshaw brandished a pistol and threatened him. Despite Scowden’s pleas for his safety, Hinshaw allegedly discharged the weapon, striking Scowden.

Scowden was able to flee the scene and seek help at a neighboring residence. Deputies attempted to contact Amber and Joshua Hinshaw at their home but found it empty. A search warrant was executed, and evidence related to the shooting and drug use was collected.

Later that day, an anonymous tip led deputies to a storage unit at 3658 Jasper Road, rented by Hinshaw. As deputies approached, Hinshaw fled on a motorcycle, leading to a brief chase. For the safety of residents and officers, the chase was called off. A subsequent search warrant on the storage unit resulted in the recovery of several firearms and drug-related items.

Hinshaw, a convicted felon with a firearms disability, faces felony charges for possessing a firearm or dangerous ordinance. The Pike County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information on the whereabouts of Amber and Joshua Hinshaw to contact them at 740-947-2111.
