CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – A Ross County grand jury has indicted Ronald J. Anderson, Sr. on charges of kidnapping and escape, stemming from a February incident at a Menards on North Bridge Street.
According to authorities, officers initially responded to the store for a reported theft. The investigation shifted when it was discovered Anderson allegedly concealed a knife and may have attempted to steal another item.
The report details a struggle with officers as Anderson provided false identification and resisted arrest. His accomplice, is said to have hindered the investigation by giving false names for Anderson.
The situation escalated further when Anderson allegedly escaped his handcuffs while being transported to the Ross County Jail. He then grabbed his accomplice by the neck, prompting jail staff to use a taser to subdue him. A handcuff key was later found hidden in Anderson’s mouth.
He remains in custody at the Ross County Jail. Anderson was also recently released from prison where he served time for robbery and failure-to-register as a sex-offender.
