POMEROY, Ohio – Two Meigs County residents are behind bars today facing felony charges after a child abuse investigation.
According to Sheriff Scott Fitch, on March 28th, agents with the Southeast Major Crimes Task Force and caseworkers from Children’s Services responded to the Holzer-Meigs Emergency Department. They were acting on information received regarding possible abuse involving two children.
Authorities report that upon arrival, the children, ages 3 and 1, exhibited signs of significant bruising. Following interviews with all parties involved, the investigation determined the mother, Missouri Brown, allegedly knew about the abuse, which her boyfriend, Caleb Schuler, is accused of inflicting.
The Sheriff’s Office says the bruising is believed to have occurred over several months. Mr. Schuler was apprehended in Middleport and transported to the Middleport Jail.
Both Ms. Brown and Mr. Schuler face felony charges of child endangerment. Sheriff Fitch’s statement did not disclose any further information regarding the case.
