CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Safety Service Director, Jeff Carman, has announced the closure of the intersection at West 5th Street and Grand Avenue due to a sewer blockage. Motorists are advised to exercise caution when approaching this intersection. While access remains available to the homes situated between Sunbury Road and Highland Avenue on West 5th Street, residents of Grand Avenue must utilize Belleview Avenue for access.
To navigate around the closure, motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternative main roads, including Belleview Avenue, University Drive, and Plyleys Lane, for accessing and departing University Hill. If you’re traveling eastbound on West 5th Street, follow these directions: turn north onto Sunbury Road, then east onto West 4th Street, and finally south onto Highland Avenue to return to West 5th Street. For westbound travelers on West 5th Street, the route is as follows: turn north onto Highland Avenue, then west onto West 4th Street, and finally south onto Sunbury Road to return to West 5th Street.
