CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Multiple food establishments in Circleville, Ohio, recently underwent health inspections by the Pickaway County Health District. The inspections revealed a mix of critical and non-critical violations, prompting corrective actions and reminders for food safety compliance. 

Establishments with Critical Violations 

  • STP Petro & Food Inc. was cited for critical violations related to unclean food equipment surfaces. Inspectors found a buildup of debris on soda nozzles and the ice machine, requiring immediate cleaning. 
  • Big Lots #424 had a critical violation for selling eggs from unapproved sources. Food establishments must obtain all food items from approved sources to ensure safety. 
  • Rhoads Garden Center, Inc. was found storing eggs above ready-to-consume products in a cooler, violating food separation requirements. Additionally, a non-potable water drain was found connected to the warewashing sink, requiring its removal. 
  • Hampton Inn – Circleville lacked an employee illness reporting policy, a critical requirement for food safety. The facility also had cold-holding temperature violations of cream cheese. 

Repeat and Non-Critical Violations 

Several establishments faced repeat or non-critical violations: 

  • Big Lots #424Rhoads Garden Center, Inc., and Hampton Inn – Circleville were cited for failing to have handwashing signage in restrooms. 
  • Big Lots #424 also needed to clean non-food contact surfaces and provide written procedures for handling vomiting or diarrheal events. 
  • Lindsey’s Bakery had a leaking freezer condenser that could potentially contaminate food.
