SWANTON, Ohio — The 180th Fighter Wing is set to conduct an air defense exercise over the Southern Ohio area on Wednesday, April 17, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Residents in and around Hillsboro, may hear and see fighter jets in close proximity to a Civil Air Patrol aircraft. This aircraft will be acting as a Track of Interest (TOI), an aircraft identified as a potential threat.

The exercise aims to evaluate response and coordination procedures, testing the readiness and efficiency of the 180th Fighter Wing in potential threat scenarios.

While the exercise is scheduled for the evening, it is subject to relocation, delay, or cancellation due to inclement weather conditions. The 180th Fighter Wing emphasizes the importance of these exercises in maintaining security and preparedness in the region.
