CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Two men have been arrested following a drive-by shooting in Ross County, in which multiple shots were fired at a residence.

Authorities say the incident occurred on May 1 on Route 41 after a confrontation between a homeowner and one of the arrested men, Wyatt Swackhammer. The homeowner told police that he had argued with Swackhammer and had invited him to fight but believed Swackhammer would come with friends and potentially a firearm.

Shortly after the argument, the homeowner saw a black Ford Fusion slowly driving past his residence. He went inside to check on his sons and learned Swackhammer reportedly drove that type of vehicle. The homeowner then armed himself with a bat, confronted the car’s occupants, and told them to leave.

As the vehicle sped away, a passenger fired one or two shots from the front passenger window. The vehicle then returned, heading southbound, and the driver fired several more shots. The homeowner and his sons reported hearing the shots and had to take cover to avoid being struck.

Deputies later stopped a black Ford Fusion matching the description. Four shell casings were found on the scene and additional matching casings were located inside the vehicle. The driver, Wyatt Swackhammer, and the front passenger, Jose Mejiah, were arrested. Both men face charges of felonious assault, improper handling/discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle, and discharging a firearm into a habitation.
