WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE Ohio — A student is in serious condition in Fayette County after being run over by a car while getting off a school bus.
It happened at around 3:15 p.m. on Friday in the 8000 block of route 62 south outside of Washington Court House.
Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth said a student was getting off a Miami Trace School bus when a car struck them; the bus was carrying middle and high school students.
The crash occurred after a car was stopped for the bus — who was dropping the student off when another car came upon the stopped one and rear-ended it.
“The child had exited the bus and was standing in the driveway. A collision occurred on the roadway and pushed one of the vehicles off the roadway across the driveway, striking the student,” the Sheriff said.
Two adults from the scene were transported to a hospital, as well as the student.
The Sheriff said both lanes of route 62 were closed.
