SURRAY COUNTY, North Carolina — A North Carolina man has been called the ultimate dad after reportedly drowning while rescuing his three kids from a river.
According to authorities in North Carolina, Benny Bowers Jr., 44, jumped into the Yadkin River in Surry County after his three children fell into the water on Sunday, April 28.
Local media outlets interviewed the man’s sister, Angela Stewart, who said Bowers managed to rescue all of the kids but did not resurface after pushing the last child to safety.
Rescue crews reportedly searched for Bowers, his body was not found until the next day, Monday, April 29. Family and friends of the man call him a hero. His funeral was held on May 6.
