WAVERLY, Ohio — A series of unrelated incidents kept law enforcement officials in Pike County busy on Thursday, May 24, 2024.

The first incident occurred at 1:31 p.m. when a car collided with a semi-tractor trailer at the intersection of US 32 and SR 220. The driver of the car, Grace York, 27, of McArthur, Ohio, was self-transported to Adena Regional for medical observation as a precaution. The driver of the semi-tractor trailer did not report any serious injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with local fire and EMS crews, responded to the scene to address a diesel fuel leak from the truck.

Later that afternoon, two separate high-speed pursuits unfolded simultaneously in different parts of the county.

The first pursuit began around 3:38 p.m. after Waverly Police Department officers initiated a chase of a white single-axle dump truck with no visible plates. The pursuit crossed into Ross County, involving multiple law enforcement agencies.After an hour-long chase, the driver, Stacie Stepp, 30, of Chillicothe, abandoned the truck and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended. Stepp faces felony charges in both Pike and Ross County.

The second pursuit, initiated by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oak Hill Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, involved a green 1999 Ford F-150 driven by Christopher Greene, 40, of Beaver, Ohio. Greene was apprehended in Pike County and faces felony charges in Jackson County.
