CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Adena Regional Medical Center is facing a new lawsuit filed by Progressive Specialty Insurance Company. The lawsuit alleges that the hospital took a payment in error and has refused to refund the money.

According to the lawsuit, a client of Progressive Specialty Insurance was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center on October 26, 2022, following an auto crash on North Bridge Street in Chillicothe. The hospital submitted a bill for the injured individual and requested payment. The individual wrote a $5,000 check to Adena on February 27, 2023, which, according to the plaintiff’s attorneys, was cashed by the hospital.

On April 3, 2023, the plaintiff paid an additional $5,000 to their client and her attorneys. The lawsuit claims that the original payment was made in error. When the mistake was discovered, the plaintiff requested a refund from Adena. However, the lawsuit alleges that Adena failed to return the money.

This lawsuit is one of several currently pending against Adena Regional Medical Center and Adena Health System
