JACKSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Wellston Police Department is bolstering its ranks with the addition of a new four-legged officer. Garo, a 2-year-old German Shepherd, has officially joined the force and will be patrolling the streets alongside his partner, Officer Derrow.
The announcement, made over the weekend, was met with enthusiasm from the community. Garo and Officer Derrow recently passed their certification test.
In a statement on social media, the department expressed gratitude for the dedication and effort put forth by Officer Derrow and his family to bring Garo onto the team. “We appreciate the hard work and sacrifice put in by Officer Derrow and his family in order to make this happen,” the post read.
