WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is announcing a recall of Theefun Kids Gardening Tool Sets due to choking hazards and potential phthalate exposure.

Products Recalled

The recall involves Theefun Kids Gardening Tools sets with model number HJL-001. These children’s gardening sets include five tools with wooden handles and brown handle strings. Each tool measures approximately 27 inches long.

Hazard

The brown handle strings on the gardening tools contain levels of phthalates that violate the federal phthalate ban. Phthalates can be toxic if ingested by young children and may cause adverse health effects. Additionally, the strings pose a choking hazard for young children.

What to Do

Consumers should immediately take these recalled gardening tools away from young children. They can contact Thousandshores, the importer, for a full refund by Thousandshores Amazon storefront to reach customer service. Consumers are advised to cut off the brown handle strings and dispose of them according to local and state recycling regulations.

Sold At

The recalled gardening tools were sold exclusively on Amazon.com between January and April 2024 for approximately $27 to $29 for the set of five tools.
