IRONTON, Ohio — Jackie Lee Miller, 63, of Ironton, Ohio, has been sentenced to eight to twelve years in prison after being found guilty of first-degree felony drug trafficking by a jury on June 21, 2024. The sentencing was handed down by Honorable Judge Andy Ballard on June 26, 2024.
The investigation into Miller began in May 2023 as part of Project Bridge, an initiative led by the Lawrence Drug & Major Crime Task Force aimed at connecting individuals with substance abuse disorders to treatment and apprehending drug traffickers.
During the investigation, officers from the Ironton Police Department conducted a vehicle stop where methamphetamine was discovered in the possession of one of the vehicle’s occupants. Further investigation traced the source of the drugs back to Jackie Miller. Collaborating closely, officers from the Task Force, Ironton Police Department, and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office orchestrated a controlled purchase of approximately one ounce of methamphetamine from Miller. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at the location of the controlled buy, but Miller had already departed the premises.
Following these events, a grand jury indictment was secured against Miller. He was apprehended by members of the Fade Drug Task Force in Greenup County, Kentucky, on December 8, 2023.
Miller’s trial concluded with the jury delivering a guilty verdict for drug trafficking, leading to his sentencing this week. The case highlighted ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking in the region, emphasizing coordination across agencies in targeting narcotics distribution networks.
