SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — An 18-year-old has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for 27 years for fatally shooting a man at a house party last summer.
Aden Greene was convicted of murder and felonious assault on Friday following a five-day trial.
The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on July 29, 2023, at a home in Rigrish Addition, near Minford. Deputies found 20-year-old Nathaniel “Nate” Chase McQuinley unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.
Greene, who was 17 at the time, admitted to the shooting but claimed self-defense. Prosecutors said Greene brought a .45-caliber handgun to the party and showed it off to others. An argument erupted, and McQuinley intervened. Greene then shot McQuinley multiple times.
The trial included testimony from 23 witnesses and over 100 pieces of evidence. The jury rejected Greene’s self-defense claim.
“This is a tragic and senseless case that has devastated Nathaniel McQuinley’s family and shaken our community,” said Scioto County Prosecutor Shane Tieman.
Greene was also convicted of three counts of felonious assault for injuring others at the party.
