CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – On August 30, 2024, a dramatic sequence of events unfolded on Madison Avenue as police responded to reports of a robbery and assault involving two suspects who allegedly threatened victims with a firearm. The suspects were described as one wearing a black shirt and the other in gray shorts with no shirt.
Upon arrival, officers identified a suspect matching the description—later confirmed as Nycholas Hutchinson—walking on Madison Avenue. When officers approached, Hutchinson allegedly fled, prompting an officer to draw his service weapon. After determining Hutchinson was unarmed, the officer attempted to detain him, but Hutchinson reportedly resisted, leading to a physical struggle that resulted in the officer sustaining a cut above his left eyebrow.
Hutchinson was eventually restrained, handcuffed, and transported to the Ross County Jail, where he faces charges including assault on a peace officer and other related offenses.
Meanwhile, another officer detained a second suspect, Craig Kinney-Thompson, in a nearby alley. Initially denying any involvement, Kinney-Thompson was later arrested for complicity to robbery after video evidence allegedly showed him aiding Hutchinson in the theft of marijuana plants.
Both suspects are currently in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are reviewing additional evidence provided by the victims to further understand the extent of the incident.
