ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities responded to a potential robbery attempt on Tuesday afternoon after reports of a suspicious vehicle trailing an armored truck near a business on Hospital Road. The incident, involving a silver Nissan and an armored vehicle, occurred at Classic Brands in Ross County, with suspects fleeing the scene before law enforcement arrived.

At approximately 1:19 p.m. on September 17, deputies were dispatched to the location after receiving a report that the silver Nissan had followed the armored vehicle and attempted to block its path. Upon arrival, the deputies spoke with the armored truck employees, who described a tense moment when three doors of the Nissan opened, and an individual in a black hoodie exited the vehicle as they were transporting cash.

The driver of the armored truck immediately drove away and contacted their manager before circling back to the business to notify law enforcement. Despite an area search by police, the Nissan had left the scene, and no license plate number was obtained.

For safety, law enforcement escorted the armored vehicle to its next scheduled stop at Adena Regional Medical Center. Following the incident, the armored truck’s management ordered the employees to return to their company base for the day. Nearby law enforcement agencies were also alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, with no arrests reported as of yesterday evening.
