WAVERLY, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has issued an evacuation advisory for residents in low-lying areas near Lake White after crews were unable to open the lake’s drain gates. As the lake’s water levels continue to rise quickly, ODNR officials are urging residents to evacuate using State Routes 552 and 551.
Emergency repair crews are en route to address the situation, but officials warn that the lake’s rising water poses an immediate threat.
“We are working closely with the Pike County EMA and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office to communicate updates with the public,” ODNR said in a statement. “Please exercise caution and stay safe.”
Further information will be shared as it becomes available.
