CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has provided the latest information on several key road projects currently underway and scheduled across Ross County. Drivers should anticipate lane closures and possible delays as crews work to improve local infrastructure.
New Projects:
- Ross County Resurfacing:
Work kicked off on August 19 to resurface sections of S.R. 28, S.R. 207, S.R. 372, S.R. 772, and S.R. 104. Construction is happening daily, and at least one lane will remain open throughout the project. Completion is targeted for fall 2024.- Current Work: Construction is active on the S.R. 207 bridge over the Scioto River, reducing traffic to one lane. Delays are expected during peak hours, with the project wrapping up by October 11, 2024.
- Upcoming Work: Resurfacing along S.R. 28 between U.S. 50 and Harper Station Road will begin on October 7. At least one lane will stay open, and completion is expected by November 1, 2024.
- U.S. 23 Resurfacing:
Starting October 17, resurfacing will begin on U.S. 23 between George Hollow Road and Cox Road. The project will take place daily with at least one lane open, aiming for completion in winter 2024. - U.S. 35 Bridge Maintenance:
On October 7, crews will begin maintenance on the Kilgore Bridge near the U.S. 35 and U.S. 50 split. At least one lane will remain open throughout the work, which is expected to be finished by October 21, 2024.
Ongoing Projects:
U.S. 23 Intersection Improvement:
Ongoing since April 10, work to install a turbo lane at the U.S. 23 and Trego Creek Road intersection continues. One lane of U.S. 23 will remain open, with project completion expected by fall 2024.
S.R. 138 Culvert Replacement:
Work has been underway since September 16 to replace a culvert on S.R. 138 between Austin Road and C.R. 550. Traffic is being detoured through U.S. 35, S.R. 753, S.R. 41, and S.R. 28. This project is expected to finish by October 16, 2024.
U.S. 50 Resurfacing:
Resurfacing began on July 30 along U.S. 50 in Chillicothe, affecting major roads like Western Avenue, Main Street, South Bridge Street, and Eastern Avenue. Lane closures are in place from 8 PM to 6 AM, with completion set for fall 2024.
