OWENTON, Kentucky — Three members of an Air Evac Lifeteam were killed in a helicopter accident near Owenton, Kentucky, according to a statement from Air Evac Lifeteam. The crew, based out of AEL base 133 in Grant County, Kentucky, was en route to pick up a patient when the tragic crash occurred.
The victims have been identified as Gale Alleman, Pilot; Bethany Aicken, Flight Nurse; and James Welsh, Flight Paramedic.
Air Evac Lifeteam expressed their deep sorrow in a statement and confirmed they are working closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) as investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
