CHILLICOTHE, Ohio —A disturbing case of public indecency unfolded once again in Chillicothe on October 8, 2024, when a man was reported defecating in a resident’s front yard on East Main Street.

According to the Chillicothe Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East Main Street after receiving a call about a shirtless man, barefoot and wearing only black shorts, who was seen behaving erratically and defecating in front of a residence.

The resident who reported the incident told police he noticed the man acting strangely before witnessing him pull down his shorts and defecate on his lawn. The called added that the man appeared to be heading toward the nearby Chillicothe STEM School.

Officers later identified the suspect as Kaleb Campbell, who had been contacted just 45 minutes earlier for walking in the street near the school, following a report from school staff. When officers located Campbell, he was covered in fecal matter and admitted to having diarrhea, claiming he was on his way home. However, his bizarre behavior and unsanitary condition led officers to arrest him on charges of disorderly conduct and public indecency. Campbell is well known in the Chillicothe area as a serial exposure. Those close to the individual cite mental health issues as the reason for the disturbing behavior.

Before being placed in the police cruiser, Campbell was rinsed off due to biohazard concerns related to the fecal matter. He was then transported to the Ross County Jail and booked on the charges.
