ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A serious vehicle accident on Route 50 in Ross County resulted in injuries to a South Salem resident on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
At approximately 8:09 p.m., John S. Anderson, 76, was driving a 2004 Jeep Liberty westbound on Route 50 when his vehicle reportedly struck a deer. The impact caused Anderson to lose control of the vehicle. The Jeep veered off the right side of the road before crossing over to the left side, where it struck a guardrail. The vehicle then overturned and collided with multiple trees before coming to a halt.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene and transported Mr. Anderson to Adena Regional Medical Center. He was later transferred to Grant Medical Center for further treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Route 50 was closed to traffic for approximately two and a half hours following the accident.
The Ohio Highway Patrol and local authorities are continuing to investigate the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and there were no additional injuries reported.
