MOORESVILLE, North Carolina — In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina and Hurricane Milton, Lowe’s has increased its hurricane relief efforts, committing an additional $10 million to recovery, bringing the company’s total contribution to $12 million. The donation will support nonprofit organizations and first responders working to address immediate recovery needs in the hardest-hit areas.
Lowe’s CEO, Marvin Ellison, expressed deep concern for the destruction in the company’s home state, particularly in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton. He commended the tireless work of Lowe’s employees, supply chain teams, and vendor partners for their continued dedication. Ellison also recognized the support of customers who have been donating to the American Red Cross at checkout, emphasizing the company’s long-term commitment to rebuilding communities.
Lowe’s has mobilized hundreds of its red vest associates in Western North Carolina to volunteer in cleanup efforts, contributing thousands of hours to assist in removing debris and providing essential supplies like cleaning products. Disaster relief events are scheduled to take place at Lowe’s stores in areas affected by Hurricane Milton, where free cleaning supplies will be distributed to local residents in need.
Since Hurricane Helene made landfall, Lowe’s has hosted more than 40 relief events across states like Florida and Tennessee, supplying critical items, including chainsaws and generators, to first responders. Lowe’s Emergency Command Center, active since September 24, has been working around the clock to coordinate these efforts.
In addition to supplies, Lowe’s has deployed over 250 members of its Emergency Response Team to the hardest-hit regions. These teams, hailing from states such as Texas, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, are providing support in Florida and other impacted areas, allowing local store associates to focus on their personal recovery.
Lowe’s is also providing financial assistance to its workers through the Lowe’s Employee Relief Fund, matching donations at a 2-to-1 ratio through the end of the year. Customers can continue to contribute to the relief efforts by rounding up their in-store purchases until November 3, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross. To date, more than $3 million has been raised to aid in the recovery from Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
