CHICAGO, Illinois — A Chicago man has been sentenced to federal prison for selling fentanyl and attempting to provide financial support to ISIS. Jason Brown, 42, of Lombard, Illinois, was sentenced on October 16, 2024, by U.S. District Judge Mary M. Rowland after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including attempting to provide material support to ISIS, distributing fentanyl, and possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking.

In 2019, Brown gave $500 in cash on three separate occasions to an individual, believing the money would be sent to an ISIS fighter involved in terrorist activities in Syria. Unbeknownst to Brown, the individual was cooperating with law enforcement, and the supposed ISIS fighter was actually an undercover officer.

That same year, Brown trafficked fentanyl and other drugs from California to the Chicago suburbs, while also illegally possessing loaded firearms to further his drug operations.

Brown has been in custody since his 2019 arrest and received his sentence after his guilty plea last year.
