CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a domestic violence incident that left two people stabbed and one person struck by a vehicle late Tuesday night. The altercation took place around 10:50 p.m. at a residence on County Road 1.
The suspect, 26-year-old Dimitri Callens of Chesapeake, allegedly confronted his ex-girlfriend at the home after reportedly seeing her earlier in the evening at a restaurant in Huntington, West Virginia, with another individual. According to Sheriff Jeff Lawless, “An argument ensued, during which Callens brandished a machete.” Callens is accused of stabbing 53-year-old Harold E. Maynard in the neck and hand, and 20-year-old Harold M. A. Maynard in the hand.
As Callens fled the scene, authorities say he struck 48-year-old Willa Maynard with his vehicle. All three victims were transported by Lawrence County EMS to hospitals in Huntington. Sheriff Lawless reported that none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.
Deputies later apprehended Callens at his residence without incident. He has been charged with three counts of Felonious Assault and could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
