JACKSON, Ohio — The Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries early Tuesday morning at the intersection of US 35 and Savageville School Road in Jackson County. The incident occurred around 7:55 a.m. on November 5, 2024, according to officials.

The crash involved a red 1995 Mack dump truck driven by Keith Manning, 40, of Wellston, Ohio, and a red 2006 Honda Accord driven by Joseph Tanner, 82, of Chillicothe, Ohio. Manning was traveling westbound on US 35 when Tanner, traveling east, attempted a left turn onto Savageville School Road. Tanner reportedly failed to yield and was struck by Manning’s vehicle. Following the collision, Tanner’s vehicle slid off the left side of the road, coming to rest in the median, while Manning’s truck came to a stop on the right shoulder of US 35 westbound.

Tanner sustained serious injuries in the crash and was initially transported to Holzer Hospital in Jackson by Jackson County Emergency Medical Services. He was later airlifted to Grant Hospital in Columbus for further treatment. Manning was uninjured.

The accident caused the closure of the westbound left lane of US 35 for approximately one hour while authorities conducted their investigation. The roadway has since reopened.
