Her defeat makes this the second time in just eight years that a woman has been nominated by the Democratic Party, only to narrowly miss reaching the presidency. Harris’s supporters campaigned on a platform promoting social equity and economic inclusiveness, but it ultimately did not translate into the winning numbers her party hoped to achieve.
