SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio – A Franklin Furnace man has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting that occurred Thursday evening on Disterdick Lane. The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office reported that their 911 center received a call at 7:46 p.m. regarding a shooting incident, leading deputies and detectives to respond to the scene where they found a male victim deceased behind the wheel of a Chevy Equinox riddled with bullet holes.
According to authorities, the deceased was identified as 24-year-old Ronnie L. Rowe of South Shore, Kentucky. Rowe’s body has been transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy. Deputies detained a suspect at the scene, identified as 25-year-old Jacob Tyler Carver of Franklin Furnace, who has since been charged with first-degree murder. Carver is currently held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, November 18, 2024.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations was called in to assist with processing the crime scene. Detectives revealed that another male was in the vehicle during the shooting but fled the scene on foot. He was located a short time later walking along U.S. 52 in the Franklin Furnace area and was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for further questioning.
