SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio — The investigation into last week’s deadly shooting has intensified, with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office announcing additional charges against the primary suspect. Sheriff David Thoroughman confirmed that 25-year-old Jacub Tyler Carver of Franklin Furnace now faces expanded charges, including attempted murder and an additional count of felonious assault.
The shooting reported to 911 at 7:46 p.m. on November 14, drew local deputies and detectives to the scene, where they discovered 24-year-old Ronnie L. Rowe of South Shore, Kentucky, dead in the driver’s seat of a Chevy Equinox. The vehicle bore numerous bullet holes, and authorities quickly declared the incident a homicide. Rowe’s body was subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for a full autopsy.
Officials revealed that another male passenger was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting but managed to flee on foot. The individual was later located walking along U.S. Route 52 in Franklin Furnace and was brought in for questioning. It remains unclear if the passenger will face any charges or if he is considered a witness.
Carver, initially detained at the scene, was formally charged with first-degree murder. Following the initial investigation, authorities have now added charges of attempted murder and felonious assault.
Carver’s bond remains set at $100,000, and he is currently detained in the Scioto County Jail. His preliminary court appearance in Portsmouth Municipal Court has been scheduled for today. Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the motive behind the shooting or the events leading up to the confrontation.
The investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement agencies continuing to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses. Sheriff Thoroughman has urged anyone with additional information related to the shooting to contact the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
