CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — An 18-year-old from Chillicothe died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 71 in Clinton County on Tuesday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred around 6 p.m. near U.S. Route 68 when a 2017 Subaru Legacy, traveling south, collided with a 2022 Ram pickup truck. The impact caused the Subaru to veer into the median and the truck to move into the right lane.

Makell Rhinehart, an 18-year-old passenger in the Subaru, was pronounced dead at Clinton Memorial Hospital. The 21-year-old driver of the Subaru, also from Chillicothe, was treated at the same hospital. No injuries were reported among the occupants of the pickup truck.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
