CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Authorities are investigating a reported sexual offense involving two patients at Adena Regional Medical Center’s behavioral health unit, according to the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.

On November 25, a deputy responded to the hospital after staff reported the alleged incident. A female patient claimed that another patient had inappropriately touched her on the evening of November 24 in the day room of Unit 1-A. The victim alleged that the male patient touched her leg, back, and neck, pulled her hair, and made additional unwelcome advances. She further reported that the man squeezed her buttocks and touched her breast over her clothing, despite her repeated demands to stop.

The victim said the male patient continued to harass her throughout the evening, following her around, calling her “sexy,” and making inappropriate comments about her body. Hospital staff intervened after the victim reported the incident, discharging the man from the unit to ensure her safety.

Authorities identified the suspect using hospital records and law enforcement databases. The report revealed that the man had recently been paroled after serving time for a rape conviction. His current whereabouts are under investigation, though he reportedly mentioned plans to travel to Zanesville or Akron after leaving the facility. The sheriff’s office has withheld his name.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office are now handling the investigation. While the victim was unable to provide a written statement due to a disability, officers are actively collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Hospital officials have yet to comment on the incident. As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
