CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Chillicothe Police Department has released a heavily redacted report detailing a shooting incident from last month in which a man sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. The incident, which occurred on November 12, is still under investigation.
According to the report, officers were dispatched to Adena Regional Medical Center after the man sought treatment for his injury. He claimed he had been walking home near Diehl Street when an encounter with another individual led to a gun discharging after falling to the ground, striking him in the foot. The man described the individual as shorter with a stocky build but was unable to provide further details due to the poor lighting at the time of the incident.
Complicating the investigation, conflicting accounts were noted in the report. A relative of the man told officers that he had claimed to have accidentally shot himself. The report also indicated that no gunshot was heard at a nearby residence, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the event.

A detective was dispatched to the scene following the initial report, and the investigation remains ongoing. The police department has withheld further details.
