MEDINA, Minnesota — Polaris has announced two separate recalls affecting over 23,500 recreational and utility off-road vehicles (ROVs) in the U.S. and Canada, citing potential fire and injury hazards. The recalls involve the Polaris RZR XP 1000, XP 4 1000, Ranger Recreational Off-Road Vehicles, and ProXD and Bobcat Utility Task Vehicles.

Polaris RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 Recall

Approximately 21,000 RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 ROVs in the U.S. and an additional 1,300 in Canada are affected due to a defect in the positive battery terminal cover. Polaris stated the cover could be damaged by the seat base, exposing the positive battery post to nearby conductive components. This flaw poses a risk of electrical short circuits and potential fires.

Remedy

Polaris is contacting registered owners directly and providing a new full-battery cover, which can be self-installed or installed for free by authorized dealers. Owners can continue using their vehicles only if the existing terminal cover is undamaged. Instructions for verifying the condition of the terminal cover and seat installation are available here. Vehicles with damaged terminal covers should not be operated until repairs are made.

Ranger Recreational and Utility Vehicles Recall

Separately, Polaris recalled approximately 2,500 Ranger ROVs and ProXD and Bobcat Utility Task Vehicles in the U.S., with 130 units sold in Canada, due to defective welding on the passenger-side seat belt anchor bracket. The defect could cause the anchor to detach, increasing the risk of passenger injury during a crash.

Remedy

Polaris urges owners to immediately stop carrying passengers in affected vehicles and contact an authorized dealer for a free inspection and repair if necessary. Polaris is reaching out to registered owners to facilitate the process.

Consumer Guidance

Polaris advises all owners of affected vehicles to cease use until they have verified the safety of the equipment or received necessary repairs. Customers can visit Polaris.com or contact Polaris via email at [email protected] or by phone at (800) 765-2747 for further information on both recalls.
