BELLEVILLE, New Jersey — Authorities may have uncovered the reason behind mysterious drones spotted over New Jersey, with Belleville Mayor Michael Melham revealing to Fox 5 New York that the aircraft could be linked to a search for missing radioactive material. The missing item, a GE-68 pin used at the Nazha Cancer Center in Newfield, vanished during transit earlier this month.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection confirmed the disappearance of the radioactive pin on December 2, noting that while it poses minimal risk to the public, its loss has raised alarms.

Widespread Drone Sightings Add to Concerns

While the missing radioactive material may explain some local drone activity, it does not account for the hundreds of large drone sightings reported across the country. Ohio has emerged as another hotspot. The Guardian reported yesterday that the airspace around Wright-Patterson Air Force Base was temporarily shut down due to drones reportedly operating near the base.

President Joe Biden downplayed the situation, describing it as “nothing nefarious.” However, the absence of clear answers has fueled public speculation, especially as drone incidents continue to disrupt sensitive locations.

Former President Donald Trump added to the public concern, urging immediate transparency and calling on officials to “let the public know, and now.”

As investigations unfold, residents and officials alike are pressing for more clarity regarding both the New Jersey drone activity and the broader pattern of incidents across the nation.
