COLUMBUS, Ohio — Anthony Thomas Candy has announced a voluntary recall of 30 cases of its Caramel Fundraiser Bars due to a packaging error resulting in an undeclared allergen. According to the company, a portion of the recalled bars contains Peanut Butter Bars mistakenly wrapped in Caramel Bar packaging, which does not list peanuts as an allergen.

Recall Details

The recall, issued on December 16, 2024, applies to a batch of Caramel Fundraiser Bars with product code 3194319. Consumers are urged to check their candy bars for the absence of a date in the white square on the packaging. Bars with a date present in the white box are not affected by the recall.

The company warns that individuals with a peanut allergy or sensitivity could face serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the mislabeled product.

Identification Instructions

Consumers can identify the recalled bars as follows:

  • Caramel Bars: Have an “X-like” pattern on the chocolate surface.
  • Peanut Butter Bars: Feature a “starburst” pattern on the chocolate surface.

If a peanut allergy is not a concern, individuals can use these visual identifiers to distinguish between the two products.

What to Do

Consumers in possession of the affected bars should:

  • Contact: Email consumerrelations@anthony-thomas.com for instructions on returning the product.
  • Verify Product: If your candy bar does not have a code date in the white square, it is part of the recall. Bars with a date in the white box are safe to consume.
