PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Early Saturday morning, a violent ambush at the Lett Terrace PMHA Housing Complex left a vehicle riddled with bullets, but no injuries were reported. Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman detailed the incident which unfolded around 3:55 a.m. on Saturday morning.

According to Sheriff Thoroughman, “The 911 communication center received a call reporting that multiple shots had been fired.” Deputies, already patrolling nearby Washington Township, heard the shots and responded immediately. “They were on scene within only a few minutes,” Thoroughman said.

Upon arrival, deputies were approached by two women and a man. The man claimed his girlfriend and her friends were followed from a gas station and that he was shot at when confronting the occupants of the vehicle. However, the narrative quickly unraveled after detectives reviewed security footage.

“Detectives were able to review security video which showed that the complainants had provided false information,” Sheriff Thoroughman noted. The video evidence contradicted the initial report, revealing that the vehicle’s occupants were not the aggressors but were instead ambushed. Approximately 36 rounds were fired at the vehicle, which was occupied by two juveniles, with several bullets hitting the car and nearby apartments and vehicles.

Following an intense 18-hour investigation, detectives identified and apprehended all suspects involved. “Some of the suspects had left the area with the firearms,” Thoroughman explained, but the team’s diligence paid off as they located the getaway vehicle and recovered two of the firearms used in the assault.

The arrested individuals include Trevon Watts, Kaeden Levi Borders, and Cody Creed Milum, all from Portsmouth, Ohio, along with two juveniles. They face multiple charges including Discharging a Firearm Over a Roadway, Weapons Under Disability, Felonious Assault, Tampering with Evidence, Improperly Discharging a Firearm into a Habitation, and Criminal Damaging.

Sheriff Thoroughman also highlighted the cooperation with PMHA Security, thanking Paula Gibson for her assistance. “The hard work led to the quick arrest of all of the suspects involved, which helps keep the residents of Washington Township safe,” he stated.

The investigation suggests these suspects might be linked to other crimes in the area, the Sheriff said,
