COLUMBUS, Ohio – Governor Mike DeWine has authorized the use of Ohio’s State Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) to assist Ashtabula County in covering expenses related to a severe winter storm that impacted the area between November 29 and December 5, 2024.

The SDRP is a state-funded reimbursement program designed to aid local governments and eligible private non-profit organizations when storm damages do not meet the threshold for federal disaster assistance. The program helps cover costs associated with debris removal, emergency protective measures, and permanent repairs.

Governor DeWine’s approval means that Ashtabula County met the necessary per capita damage threshold required for SDRP assistance. With this authorization, the Ohio Emergency Management Agency can now request funding from the Ohio Controlling Board to support the county’s recovery efforts.
