COLUMBUS, Ohio – Pedro Marquez, a 34-year-old Mexican national from Fayette County, finds himself in custody once more after being arrested today by federal agents. Marquez, previously deported following a drug trafficking conviction, faces charges of illegal reentry into the United States, a serious offense that could land him up to 20 years in prison.
Court documents reveal that Marquez was first removed from the U.S. in 2009, only to return and get convicted in 2011 for his role in a major drug trafficking operation. His involvement included transporting, delivering, and distributing significant quantities of methamphetamine—over 500 grams—primarily within the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Following his prison sentence, he was deported again in 2016.
This latest arrest highlights ongoing concerns over border security and the challenges of monitoring individuals with criminal backgrounds after their deportation.
